Counter-Strike
Counter-Strike is a first-person shooter for PC. In this classic game, you get to join one of two teams: terrorists or counter-terrorists to seize a map. Download Counter-Strike and free hostages, land headshots, learn how to use a tactical knife, and more.
Aztec to Aztec, Dust to Dust
This Counter-Strike game shines in its antique glory. We have here rough-edged models of two competing factions. They wear low-poly armor, brandish low-poly machine-guns and plant low-poly bombs.
There's a feasible nostalgia vibe. Its looks and iconic sound effects of weaponry rattle time-traveled to our day straight from 2004. Maps, though — Inferno, Nuke, Dust II — have been adapted to the modern VCs.
Extremists and feds got a slight facelift too. So, don't worry bout your eyes bleeding from a pixel overkill transmitted by your HD monitor. But don't expect the fancy look of CS: GO either.
Warring factions still gibber they're favorite Follow me, Fire in the hole! And Bomb has been planted. It's reassuring to hear those original phrases as they chaperone the game's authentic feel of a special operation from the Pentium IV era.
Counter-terrorists Win?
Iconic gameplay has been kept intact. If you want to have a glimpse of what shooters used to be like in the 2000s, our Counter-Strike review promises it'll be your best substitute for a time-machine.
The idea is simple: two teams clash on a map filled with tactical buildings, shelters, etc. Team A is the fearless counter-terrorists who, at times, need to free a bunch of Skyrim-like NPC hostages or disarm a TNT present left by the enemy.
Team B is a terrorist. Unlike good guys, they despise a standard uniform and rock bandanas, cool shades, MC Hammer haircuts, and many-pocketed pants.
Each team has a different arsenal. Spec Ops prefer M-16 and whatnot. Terrorists adore AK-74 and Scorpion — something you can typically get in Kabul's giftshop. The frag, smoke, and flash grenades are also at your disposal.
The game is over once the entire opposite team is dead. Or if a bomb is disarmed — there are various modes, including capture the flag in Counter-Strike full game. However, it's not really about tactics, but feeding bullets to the foes and having fun.
Blast from the Past
Counter-Strike system requirements are laughable. You'll do fine with Windows XP, 128 MB ram, and about 300 MB of disc space at hand. Any decrepit PC from around 2001 can handle the game, so maybe it's time to make a Counter-Strike Android version.
Conclusion
The father of CS: GO, Counter-Strike is still popular online. Probably because it's not demanding, very simple in terms of gameplay, immensely fun and free of endless lootboxes.
If you want a game that can provide an hour or two of gun-based relaxation — download Counter-Strike. This shooter is a good excuse to shed a nostalgic tear.
