Mortal Kombat X
Mortal Kombat X is a 2015 installation of the iconic fighting franchise. Choose your hero and prove your skill on the arena! Or follow the story of mighty warriors protecting Earthrealm and fighting invaders from the outer world! All you need is install Mortal Kombat X for consoles or PC and start the battle!
What’s the Story?
The lore of Mortal Kombat is incredibly rich: what was just mentioned in previous games was explained in movies and novels, plus various fanfiction. This time, though, we have a story in the game. It’s still all about fighting in the arena, one-vs-one, with kicks and knocks, chains and lightnings, special attacks and combos!
But this time, the game has a big story to tell. Fans will gladly follow battles against Shinnok, Mileena, recurring antagonists, as well as D’Vorah and Kotal Kahn, the new ones, to save Earthrealm from attacks. The plot is unusually long for the franchise, but there is still good old Arena, where you can select your own hero or villain and choose an opponent.
Choose Your Fighter!
For those ready to spend many hours playing Mortal Kombat X, the best thing about it is the number of playable fighters. Along with familiar ones, from Scorpion, Sub Zero, Raiden, or Johny Cage, there are completely new ones introduced in this installment. Some of them are children of the old generation heroes; the story focuses on them maybe too much, but others are also worth trying, at least to see their fatalities.
There are 24 heroes in the core version, each in three variations, changing their style (though not radically). More are added in Mortal Kombat X DLC packs.
Redesigned
This game of 2015 doesn’t pretend a legacy of 1990s; its visuals can impress any fan. Now in pseudo-3D so spectacular that you don’t miss the third dimension, it actually follows the traditions of the franchise. Its cutscenes are well animated. The entire style has changed, though. The first installments were bloody and gory yet bright and colorful. This one is in gothic dimmed colors, recompensing for less spectacular violence (for the rating’s sake).
The most important thing is, though, that you still can connect two gamepads (or keyboards) and spend hours at PvP battles on the same screen, each player controlling a separate character, like in the good old days. In fact, you can skip the story and go to PvP. Of course, there is online matching as well. What’s been ditched is 2v2 battles, sorry.
As for fighting mechanics, they still require memorizing combos with your fingers, so you don’t have to think how to apply them. Mortal Kombat has always been a reflex test, and it remains.
The new Mortal Kombat
The new Mortal Kombat is still a top-notch fighting game, with various kombatants to choose from, building up to the lore and looking quite modern. If you download Mortal Kombat X for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Windows, you will always find someone to kick.

Many playable characters with selectable styles;
Still enough gore, though less than before;
Adds a lot to the lore;
Supports many PvP options.

No 2v2 fights.
